Chemo Care Love Packages
Chemotherapy is an emotional and uncomfortable experience for cancer patients. We saw this first-hand and wanted to do something to provide comfort. In 2015, the idea of Chemo Care Love Packages.
It is a community initiative in which we provide a bag full of gifts to patients with items such as blankets, satin pillowcases, head turbans, journals, gripped socks, and gift cards to show that we SEE and CARE.
Each item selected was intentional…
Blankets: To provide warmth for the patients. Chemotherapy can cause low body temperature.
Satin Pillowcases & Head Turbans: Chemotherapy causes severe hair loss. We chose these items to protect the head.
Journals & Puzzle Books: Distracting the mind with something positive and creative is always refreshing. These activities help keep the patients calm.
Gripped Socks: Chemotherapy affects the muscles and causes patients to lose balance as they walk. The gripped socks are to protect them while walking on slippery hospital floors.
Gift Cards: Gift cards come in handy more than you know. Grubhub gift cards help tremendously for days a patient is too exhausted to cook, and Amazon gift cards can assist with the purchase of supplies.
Chemo Care Love Packages was also created in honor of my Aunt Zoey, who passed away from Breast Cancer in 2014. We are honoring her life by giving hope, love, and a smile to the lives of other warriors.
In the past, we have worked with Brookdale Hospital and Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. As of 2024, we have expanded to Columbia, South Carolina, and will work with South Carolina Oncology.
Our goal is to serve at least (50) warriors twice a year. Help us exceed this!
